You
may bring your property, or photographs
if the property is not portable, directly
to our offices where our representatives
will give you preliminary auction estimates
and advice. There is no charge for this
service, but we request that you telephone
ahead for an appointment.
You may also send one or more clear
photographs of each item or a representative
group of items if the property is from
a large collection, and representatives
will provide a free preliminary auction
estimate which is subject to a revision
after first-hand inspection. Please
be sure to include dimensions, any maker’s
or artist’s marks or signatures,
medium, physical condition and any other
relevant information known to you, such
as provenance, if applicable.
We are happy to make visits to your
home, office or bank if the consignment
warrants this. Cooper Owen representatives
are available to travel to the location
of the property, but provision of this
service is entirely at our discretion
and may incur a charge to you.
Seller’s
Commission
There is a commission of 17.5% of the
hammer price of each lot sold through
Cooper Owen.
Insurance
Insurance is charged at 1.5% of the
hammer price. If you do not require
your property to be covered by our insurance,
please inform us in writing at, or prior
to, consignment.
Other fees, such as illustration fees
specific marketing costs, advertising
etc, will be discussed with the consignor
in advance or detailed in the receipt
you will receive from us when you consign
your property for sale.
Unsold
Fees
There is a fee of £10 (inclusive
of V.A.T.) for lots that do not sell
with an agreed reserve. However Cooper
Owen reserve the right to charge an
unsold commission.
Shipping
Arrangements
Consignors must arrange for the delivery
of property to Cooper Owen at the consignor’s
risk and expense. Cooper Owen will supply,
at a consignor’s request, names
of packers and shippers who are independent
contractors.
